Tips & Tricks

Try putting WD-40 on your cable! WD-40 will help protect your cable against the elements, eliminate friction on your boat lift, and help the cable wind on the pipe.

Is your cable "bunching up" on the pipe? One simple thing to fix this problem is to add cable weights to your slings. Adding cable weights, will keep tension on the cable. There are times when even "weighted" slings can use cable weights to stay straight. We offer two types of cable weights; 6 lb (Part # 700151) and 10 lb (Part # 700152).

Having trouble with your cable? As cable winds on the pipe it will flatten itself out and then as it moves off the pipe it will return to its round shape. If this is done too many times, the cable will start to fray. Cable winders, also referred to as cable savers, could be your solution. Cable winders provide machined grooves that will help the cable hold its shape while on the pipe. They will also keep your cable straight, clean on the pipe and will prolong the life of your cable.

Eliminate friction build up on your boat lift by using ball bearing pulleys. (Pulleys are also commonly referred to as blocks.) If the pulleys on your lift are not ball bearing, then you are adding unnecessary friction to your boat lift. Changing your pulleys is easy and will enhance the overall performance of your boat lift. Try our 3" blocks (Part # 700027).
